BACKGROUND
Tea tree oil uses are numerous — it can be used to make homemade cleaning products, diffused to kill toxic mold that’s growing in your home, and applied topically to heal skin issues and treat skin infections. Tea tree oil becoming an increasingly popular active ingredient in a variety of household and cosmetic products, including disinfectant sprays, face washes, shampoos, massage oils, skin and nail creams and laundry detergents. Tea tree’s natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory actions make it one of the most beneficial essential oils that should be included as part of your natural medicine cabinet.
Tea Tree Oil can be used topically or diffused in the air, but should not be used internally.
BENEFITS AND USES
- Natural Acne Fighter - Mix 2-3 drops to your regular face/body wash or mix 2-3 drops of tea tree oil with a spoonful of Manuka or honey and rub it on your skin once a day. Leave it for 2 mins & rinse off.
- Antibacterial Properties - Mix 2 – 3 drops to cuts & wounds to reduce infection before applying medication
- Improve Psoriasis & Eczema - Mix 2-3 drops to your lotion or shea butter or coconut oil and rub on your skin to reduce eczema or psoriasis problems
- Boost Hair Health - Mix 2-3 drops to your shampoo to reduce dry, flaky scalp and to remove dandruff
- Improve Foot Odor - Combine about half a teaspoon of coconut oil and 2–3 drops of tea tree oil and massage the mixture into your feet
- Laundry Fresher - Add 5–10 drops of tea tree to your laundry detergent. You can also spot clean cloth, rugs or athletic equipment with a mixture of tea tree oil, vinegar and water.
- Natural Insect Repellent - Add 2–5 drops of tea tree oil to a spray bottle filled half way with water and spray it on your skin, or combine 2–5 drops of tea tree with a teaspoon of coconut oil and rub it into your skin before going outside. If you do get a bug bite, add 2–3 drops of tea tree to a clean cotton ball and apply it to the affected area
- Cough Reliever - Diffuse 5 drops at home, inhale tea tree oil directly from the bottle, or combine 1–2 drops of tea tree with a half-teaspoon of coconut oil and rub the mixture into your chest and back of your neck
- Natural Household Cleaner - Mix 5–10 drops of tea tree with water, vinegar and 5–10 drops of lemon essential oil. Then use it on your counter tops, kitchen appliances, shower, toilet and sinks
- Natural DIY Deodorant – To make tea tree oil deodorant, mixing a few drops with coconut oil and baking soda

PRECAUTION
Tea Tree oil is considered a safe oil, as it is non-toxic and non-irritant, but some individuals do show sensitizing to this oil, and it should be used with this in mind. It should not be used on deep wounds or near the eyes, ears, nose or internally.
Please remember that it is a powerful oil, but using it unwisely could result in problems. Always try to dilute Tea Tree oil with a base or carrier oil, lotion or water before applying or spraying it to the skin to see if your skin can adapt to it.
